vided further, That not to exceed $1,000 may be expended for the contribution of the United States to the cost of the office of the secretariat of the International Union of Forest Research Stations . FOREST-FIRE COOPERATION For cooperation with the various States or other appropriate agencies in forest-fire prevention and suppression and the protection of timbered and cut-over lands in accordance with the provisions of sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Act entitled "An Act to provide for the protection of forest lands, for the reforestation of denuded areas, for the extension of national forests, and for other urposes, in order to pro mote conti nuous prod uction of timber on l ands chief ly valuabl e therefor", approved June 7,1924 (U . S . C ., title 16 sees . 564-570) , as amende d, includi ng also th e study of the effect of tax laws and the investigation of timber insurance as provided in section 3 of said Act, $1,655,007, of which not to exceed $83,197 shall be available for departmental personal services in the District of Columbia and not to exc eed $2,500 for the p urchase of supplies a nd equipme nt require d for the purposes of said Act in the District of Columbia . COOPERATIVE DISTRIBUTION OF FOREST PLANTING STOCK For cooperation with the various States in the procurement, pro- duction, and distribution o f forest-tree seeds and plants in estab lish- ing windbreaks, shelter belts, and farm wood lots upon denuded or nonforested lands within such cooperating States, under the provi- sions of section 4 of the Act entitled "An Act to provide for the protection of forest lands, for the reforestation of denuded areas, for the extension of nation al forests, and for other purposes, in order to promote the continuous production of timber on lands chiefly suitable therefor", approved June 7, 1924 (U . S . C ., title 16, sec . 567), and Acts supplementary thereto, $70,579, of which amount not to exceed $3,610 may be expended for departmental personal services in the District of Columbia . ACQUISITION OF LANDS FOR NATIONAL FORESTS For the acquisition of forest lands under the provisions of the Act approved March 1, 1911, as amended (U . S . C ., title 16, sees . 513-519, 521), $3,000,000 : Provided, That not to exceed $75,000 of the sum appropriated in this paragraph may be expended for depart- mental personal services in the District of Columbia .
