[CHAPTER 210] AN ACT To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to contract with the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District of New Mexico for the payment of operation and main- tenance charges on certain Pueblo Indian lands. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the provisions of the Act of August 27, 1935 (49 Stat. 887), as amended by section 5 of the Act of June 20, 1938 (52 Stat. 779), authorizing the Secretary of the Interior to provide by agreement with the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, a subdivision of the State of New Mexico, for the payment of operation and maintenance charges on newly reclaimed Pueblo Indian lands and lands purchased by the United States by virtue of the Act of June 7, 1924 (43 Stat. 636), as amended, for certain Pueblo Indians, are hereby extended for an additional period of ten years to 1955. [CHAPTER 211] AN ACT To reimburse certain Navy personnel and former Navy personnel for personal property lost or damaged as the result of a fire in building numbered 141 at the United States naval repair base, San Diego, California, on May 1, 1945. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sum or sums, amounting in the aggregate not to exceed $22,434.28, as may be required by the Secretary of the Navy to reimburse, under such regulations as he may prescribe, certain Navy personnel and former Navy personnel for the value of personal property lost or damaged as the result of a fire in building numbered 141 at the United States naval repair base, San Diego, California, on May 1, 1945: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centun thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any con- tract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved April 24, 1946.
