Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Army is authorized and directed to accept on behalf of, and without expense to, the United States Government, an offer by the American Veterans of World War II (AMVETS) to furnish, install, and maintain a carillon in the Arlington Memorial Amphitheater, Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, Virginia, as a memorial to the World War II dead, subject to the approval by the Commission established pursuant to section 1 of the Act of March 4, 1921 (41 Stat. 1440), of the character, design, and location of such carillon. [CHAPTER 731] JOINT RESOLUTION Authorizing the Secretary of the Navy to construct and the President of the United States to present to the people of Saint Lawrence, Newfoundland, on behalf of the people of the United States, a hospital or dispensary for heroic services to the officers and men of the United States Navy. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Navy be, and he is hereby, authorized to undertake the construction at Saint Lawrence, Newfoundland, of a hospital or a dispensary, including the acquisition of land necessary therefor, at a cost not to exceed $375,000. An appropriation of not to exceed $375,000 is hereby authorized to effectuate the purposes of this joint resolution. SEC. 2 . The President of the United States is authorized to present such hospital or dispensary to the people of Saint Lawrence, New- foundland, in token of appreciation of the United States of America to the people of Saint Lawrence, Newfoundland, of their heroic action in saving the lives of officers and men of the United States ship Pollux and the United States ship Truxton, wrecked near Saint Lawrence in the year 1942.
