buildings (not to exceed $15,000), services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a), purchase of not to exceed five passenger motor vehicles, for replacement only, in the event adequate vehicles cannot be obtained by transfer from other departments or agencies, and not to exceed $118,000 for expenses of travel, $7,828,000, of which $141,000 shall be available for such expenses as are necessary to make a study of radio and television network broadcasting. Salaries and expenses: For expenses necessary for the work of the Commission, as authorized by law, including not to exceed $300,000 for expenses of travel; purchase (one for replacement only) and hire of passenger motor vehicles; and not to exceed $500 for newspapers; $5,225,000, of which not to exceed $10,000 shall be available for special counsel and services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a), but at rates not exceeding $50 per diem for individuals: Provided, That not to exceed $325,000 shall be available for investigations relating to Federal river development projects.
