1984 SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES IN

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA Whereas the Olympic games further the cause of world peace and understanding; and Whereas the nation that hosts the games performs an act of international goodwill; and Whereas the summer Olympic games have not been held in the United States since 1932: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives {the Senate concurring), That the International Olympic Committee be advised that the Congress of the United States would welcome the holding of the 1984 summer Olympic games at the city of Los Angeles in the State of California, the site so designated by the United States Olympic Committee; and be it further Resolved, That the Congress of the United States expresses the sincere hope that the United States will be selected as the site for the 1984 summer Olympic games, and pledges its cooperation and support toward their successful fulfillment in the highest sense of the Olympic tradition; and be it further Resolved, That the Secretary of State is requested promptly to transmit the text of this resolution to the United States Olympic Committee and to the International Olympic Committee. Resolved by the House of Representatives {the Senate concurring), That in the enrollment of the bill (H.R. 3) to strengthen the capability of the Government to detect, prosecute, and punish fraudulent activities under the medicare and medicaid programs, and for other purposes, the Clerk of the House of Representatives shall make the following correction: In proposed paragraph (3) of section 1903(b) of the Social Security Act (as contained in section 17(b) of the bill), strike out" (a)(7)" and insert in lieu thereof " (a)(6)". Passed October 13, 1977.
