Public Law 97-239 97th Congress Joint Resolution To provide for the designation of April 17 to April 23, 1983, as "National C!oin Week".

Whereas coin collecting is a hobby enjoyed by millions of Americans; and Whereas coin collecting is an endeavor that has educational and cultural value; and Whereas coin collecting promotes greater understanding of our history and heritage; and Whereas coin collecting contributes to the preservation of material of historical significance: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President is National Coin authorized and requested to issue a proclamation designating April Week. 17 to April 23, 1983, as "National Coin Week", and calling on the people of the United States to observe such week with appropriate activities and ceremonies. Approved August 20, 1982.
