To amend the Pleuit Quarantine Act of August 20, 1912, as amended, to eliminate certain unnecessary regulatory requirements.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Act of August 20, 1912 (7 U.S.C. 159,160,161), is amended by— (1) striking out in section 5 the colon and all that follows down through the end of the sentence and inserting in lieu thereof a period; (2) striking out in the second sentence of section 7 the following: "That before the Secretary of Agriculture shall promulgate his determination that it is necessary to forbid the importation into the United States of the articles named in this section he shall, after due notice to interested parties, give a public hearing, under such rules and regulations as he shall prescribe, at which hearing any interested party may appear and be heard, either in person or by attorney: Provided further,"; and (8) striking out in the fourth sentence of section 8 the following: "That before the Secretary of Agriculture shall promulgate his determination that it is necessary to quarantine any State, territory, or district of the United States, or portion thereof, under the authority given in this section, he shall, after due notice to interested parties, give a public hearing under such rules and regulations as he shall prescribe, at which hearing any interested party may appear and be heard, either in person or by attorney: Provided further,".
