Dr. Ch'eng Ching-i

Dr. Ch'eng Ching-i was born of Manchu parents. Like his father, who for twenty-five years was a Minister of the Gospel in connection with the London Missionary Society Church in Peking until his death, Cheng Ching-yi has been a member of their branch of the Church from childhood. Receiving his education under Christian influence he decided voluntarily to devote the rest of his life to the propagation of the Fu-yin (Blessed News). He served as Church Secretary in the London Missionary Society, Peking, from 1900 to 1903. Dr. Ch'eng was appointed assistant revisor of the Chinese text of the New Testament and served in this capacity for three years. From 1908 to 1913 Dr. Ch'eng was pastor of the three self-supporting churches of the London Missionary Society and in 1910 was representative of the Chinese Churches of the London Missionary Society to the World Missionary Conference in Edinburgh.
