Portal:Years
All of the portals in this subclass should be started using the template {{Portal by year}}. Please read the notes in the template's documentation before proceeding. In particular, do not use the template directly; instead enter it as {{subst:Portal by year}} and save before continuing.

These portals make use of the Dynamic Page List extension to find works in one or more categories. In most cases, works will be returned only if they are categorised into the appropriate [[Category:yyyy works]] category and another subject based category (eg. Category:Novels). As a result of this, portals will only work properly if there are sufficient works properly categorised by year. This is not currently the case with all categories (many works do not yet have a year) so it is not advised to create a portal for every single possible year.
