How should I include, for instance, Image:Qaumi Tarana Sheet Music.png, the national Anthem of Pakistan? Should it have its own page? I don't want to go through a lot of work if it's not necessary. Quadell 21:54, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

essentially stealing the code from When Morning Gilds the Sky and changing the Image:name to Image:Qaumi Tarana Sheet Music.png - the fact it doesn't list the lyrics is not a barrier to being hosted on Wikisource - and the hope is that in the future we can use other markUps to integrate our existing music collection ala Help:Sheet music. Sources edit

  • There are tons of great pieces at http://www.mutopiaproject.org/ These are mostly Creative Commons implementations of PD music. (I'm not sure at all that the sheet music implementation, as opposed to the music itself, is eligible for copyright, but these are freely licensed anyway.)

I hope these are useful. Quadell 22:17, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lilypond edit

Hello,

It is a pity that Lilypond is not enable on Wikisource, because I think that sheet music images vs. Lilypond sheet music is like scanned texts vs. source texts. The former is not very useful without the source. The devs refuse to enable Lilypond. Yann 22:38, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lilypond images can be saved onto Commons, with the source code added to the image page. See commons:Category:GNU LilyPond images and commons:Template:LilyPond source. Building up the collection of lilypond output will justify dev time on this. John Vandenberg 00:11, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

To future readers, this issue has been resolved. You can see on the extension list that the lilypond plugin Score has been installed.

This issue recently came up at WikBack, the new "neutral" site for off-wiki discussion of the foundation and the projects. http://wikback.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=917 Quadell 01:20, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

earliest sheet music edit

This says that Thomas Edison's recording of Mary had a little lamb in 1877 was the previously the first recorded human voice, but "Au Clair de la Lune" has been found to be the earliest recorded human voice, captured on April 9, 1860. John Vandenberg (chat) 22:41, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
