One of several apocryphal texts by this name. This in particular is an 1887 edition of the Hebrew text Sefer haYashar which is commonally translated as Book of the Upright. The publisher of the book claims it the lost Book of Jasher refered to the book of Samuel although the book never makes the claim itself. The author is unknown although it is assumed by academics that the author was an Orthodox Jew because of the fact that the work shows influence from the Talmud, Rashi's commentary, Pirke de Rabbi Eliezer; the Yalkut; the Chronicle of Moses; Yosippon; Midrash Abkir and also the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible).
