The Complete Poems of Emily Brontë/That Word 'Never'

THAT WORD 'NEVER'

Not many years but long enough to see
No ten can deal such deadly misery
As the dear friend untimely called away;
And still the more beloved, the greater still
Must be the aching void, the withering chill
Of each dark night and dim, beclouded day.
