Mun'by, Arthur Joseph, English poet: b. Bulmer, Yorkshire, England. 1828. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, and was subsequently admitted to the bar of Lincoln's Inn. He has published 'Verses Old and New,' which contains the much admired pastoral poem 'Doris' (1865); 'Dorothy' (1880), which has been widely circulated in the poet's own country and in America; 'Vestigia Retrorsum' ('Steps Backward,' 1890); 'Vulgar Verses, by Jones Brown' (1891), mostly in dialect; 'Susan' (1893).
