The Grand Jubilee Song.

BY DR. J. M'C. SIMPSON.

Tune "Annie of the Vale."

Come, all my dear brothers
Old Fathers—Sisters—Mothers,
And let us make the Heavens ring with praise.
We've all met in Union,—
Let's join in sweet communion
And celebrate this Proclamation day.

Chorus. Sing! sing!! Let every body sing!!!
Join in the general Jubilee.
For Abraham hath spoken
And all our chains are broken.
Our Nation and our Country now are Free.

The God of the Nations.
Has pitied our conditions
And stooped to wipe away our scalding tears.
He saw with great compassion
The bloody tyrant lashing
Our sable backs for, Lo! Two hundred years.

Chorus. Sing! sing!! Let every body sing!!! &c.

The Great God of Heaven,
This blessed boon has given,
And He will our every right defend.
We'll trust in His power,
In every trying hour
And He will jourrey with us to the end.

Chorus. Sing!—sing!! Let every body sing!!! &c.

The laws are oppressive
But we are not aggressive,
And still our rights like Christians we demand.
We no more are "Chattle,"
The bloody field of Battle
Records the fact! The Negro is a man.

Chorus. Shout! shout!! Let every body shout!!!
Waft ye the echo o'er the sea,
That Abraham has spoken
And all our chains are broken
Our Nation and our Country now are Free.
