Al′derman, Edwin Anderson (1861), American educator and president of the University of Virginia, was born at Wilmington, N. C., and educated at the University of his native state. Of the latter, in 1896–99, he was president, when he became head of Tulane University at New Orleans, La., subsequently removing to Charlottesville, Va., to take the presidential chair at the University of Virginia.
