Tolkappiyam speaks about Tamil-phonemes in the first three chapters in its section one. The first chapter explains the number, collective names, duration of sounds etc. and the third one about the articulation of phonemes. The second one, which we take now, speaks about their capacities in words.

secondary phonemes

Secondary phonemes always become short phonemes reducing in its usual sound.

Clustering of consonants in articulation or twinning of letters in written form, in a word is explained below.
