Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikisource! Thank you for joining the project. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Please consider putting a brief description of yourself on your user page. If you are already a contributor to another Wikimedia project, such as Wikipedia, please mention this on your user page so we know how to contact you. Also, mention which languages you understand if English is not your first language.

In any case, I hope you enjoy donating your time to grow the Wikisource library that is free for everyone to use! Southey edit

I notice you adding Southey's poems, would you mind providing some details of the transcript. A url to website, or the edition which you used, can be noted on the talk page. Regards, cygnis insignis 14:02, 4 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the welcome! I'd be happy to do this. Is there a specific format that I should be using to give the source? Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:41, 4 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
You can put {{Textinfo}} on the talk, I reckon that adding a note in the header section is worthwhile. If the text was from a website, add a url and any mention of a primary source. If you want to add some more works from early authors, I can upload a scan of a nice edition. I had been thinking about adding a collected edition of Southey, I've linked his author page in a few references recently. cygnis insignis 17:27, 4 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, see Talk:Donica - was this done right so far? And what kind of note should be added in the header section? Sorry for being so new. I'd be happy to add some more works from early authors like you said. Just point me in the right direction. :) Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:31, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Cheers! I think you have done all you can: that website often gives the edition they used, but not in this case. That is what I would note - authority, year, title, editor - in case someone wants to cite it. You can't apologise enough for being new, so don't even try - where have you been! :-) We are missing lots of early English works, and there are good editions of these in the public domain; shall I try and find a scan of one on Southey's work? cygnis insignis 15:25, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks mate! I suppose if you don't mind uploading it, I'd certainly give it a shot! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 16:05, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for completing my request! I setup iwikis between this Southey's poems and the Russian translations by Vasily Zhukovsky. -- Sergey kudryavtsev (talk) 08:58, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely no problem! Cheers mate! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 04:56, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Index: files edit

Have a look-see at Help:Proofreading. We create the index: ns pages, and they guide the page: ns creations. It works best if we create files at Commons and use the {{book}} template at Commons. That enables us to pre-populate with the right metadata, and I just have to finish getting the script (in my common.js) into place as a gadget. I probably cannot do much today, maybe tomorrow. Do prod me if I don't. — billinghurst sDrewth 21:58, 9 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
