- Actually yes, a number of the poems have double spaces, that while typed in correctly do not show up in the final, is there a way to fix that? I was thinking I'll have to put in 2 HTML non-breaking spaces or similar --Canageek (talk) 15:52, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- Mediawiki software collapses double spacing after full stops (periods), even poem tags don't preserve them, though it is possible for users to set a preference to add them. I don't add them for a number reasons, it may affect a user preference and add four spaces for example. I prefer it on the printed page, but it is not meaningful I think. But yes, using html would work.

- I've been adding them, and can't find the preference anywhere in the settings page. Could it be embedded in the theme? I don't think that is a problem with drop cap: I've had some lines wrapping unrelated to it. Let me know where that setting is if you know and I will toggle it on and see if that creates problems.
- The article w:sentence spacing has some blather on the subject, I recall seeing a preference somewhere, but I may be confusing it with the option in Word to ignore it. I'll do some more testing and have a look around. Cygnis insignis (talk) 19:42, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- I read it over: It seems most web browsers ignore whitespace runs. This does not quite make sense as it allowed the white space run at the start of the paragraph. I couldn't find any setting on it, or anything related to wikipedia. page status edit
Hi again. The software prevents users from promoting the page status from 'not proofread' to 'validated', it won't present the option if a User is the only proofreader. You were right the first time :-) CYGNIS INSIGNIS 05:50, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
- There was someone else who had edited the page, but they had left it as ’Not Proofread', so I should only bump it 1 level, even if the software would let me do 2.

Your request for serif edit
If you were just wanting to convert all content columns (therefore not left sidebard) to have a serif font rather than sans-serif, then into User:Canageek/common.css you can put
#column-content {font-family:serif;}
save, and refresh (Ctrl-F5) and from thereafter it is changed. It is simple approach, though not flexible. If you were looking to have this for all the pages where we have proofread and transcluded, then as Inductiveload said to User:Canageek/common.js you would need to add the line
self.ws_layouts['Serif'] = { '#text':"font-family:serif;"}
I am no css expert either, however, I have been told that there are "id" bits to control most of the generic code, and I have played once or twice, and sometimes it has even worked. — billinghurst sDrewth 05:33, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

- It is meant to be that simple and when I test it (Firefox 5) it works; which is the beauty of the design feature of wiki. All I can think is the issue is a hard browser setting that overrides the ability of pages to use either style sheets, or page settings. - I’ve tried it in Firefox, IE and Chrome now, no change. I’ve checked and Firefox is set to allow sites to specify fonts. Could I not be doing something to clear my browsers cache or such?

spots on apples edit
Hope you enjoyed the tale, ta for catching my errors. Regarding that comma [2], I noticed that and didn't change it. My position is these are like spots on apples, a form of organic certification; no one has intervened and the text is verbatim. The alternative is to fix it, but this leads to all sorts of other things that someone might want to 'fix' ... a slippery slope, I reckon. CYGNIS INSIGNIS 15:20, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Forgot to mention, I did double-check it against the jpg [3]. Because of the compression algorithm, djvu can sometimes incorrectly replace one character with another (this is rare in good quality images). CYGNIS INSIGNIS 15:25, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I did enjoy reading it, it was a very nice change from the dry, academic texts that we mostly find on here. I did zoom in to the image on the left and look closely myself to see if there was a vestigial tail indicating that it was a comma that had not been evenly inked, but no such luck. I too left it as it was.
- I found the books I've been working on off of your list of pages needing validation, as I felt like some easy work. You might want to update that, as there are a lot of validated pages on it.
- Ta for the fix, I did my best to explain in an edit summary, but you had already fixed my fix and I got an ec. Anyway, if you haven't played around with transclusion yet, you could add Roland by adapting the code of an earlier page, eg. [4]. CYGNIS INSIGNIS 19:46, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
