Thank you! edit

Just wanted to say, I've noticed your efforts to validate and generally improve pages on the Oregon Historical Quarterly (sort of a pet project of mine) and elsewhere. I really appreciate it! Always nice to see when others take an interest in the same things. Please let me know if you need help figuring anything out, looks like you're kind of new here, and I know Wikisource can present lots of questions and conundrums. -Pete (talk) 08:32, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

A Question. When the text appears side by side with the page image (on the right), how can I increase the size of that image to better fill up that right 1/2 of the screen? Thanks --Ooligan (talk) 08:43, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think it depends somewhat on what operating system and what kind of mouse/pointing device you're using. But what I've found is this: if I click once in the image while in edit mode, it usually increases a bit in size, and I can click 2-3 more times to continue increasing the size. Or if that doesn't work or isn't ideal, if I click once in the image while in edit mode, I can then use the scroll wheel on my mouse (or drag with two fingers on my trackpad) to smoothly zoom in or out. Note that these only work when you're in "edit" mode, I don't think there's a way to resize the image while looking in "read" mode. -Pete (talk) 09:45, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
The edit mode does work fine. I was trying in read mode.
I'm doing a little categorizing of the Oregon Historical Quarterly volumes. Then I'll extract some images that correspond with the images needed in Wikisource, and then see if I can put the images into the appropriate pages.
Thank you for the prompt response. --Ooligan (talk) 09:57, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
That sounds great. Yes, I remember being thrown off by the resizing working in one mode but not the other...took me a long time to figure that out. Glad that helped. -Pete (talk) 09:59, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Re: images, good to see you getting started with that. Worth noting, there are usually higher quality scans available than the ones embedded in the PDF or DJVU file. This particular work, if you go to the source, makes it pretty easy to download them (some make it more complicated, making you convert from JP2 format etc.) See the versio history on this one: File:"Map of approximate route of Verendrye and his sons" from Oregon Historical Quarterly vol. 26 (page 80 crop).jpg I don't want to discourage you from the approach you're taking, it's still super helpful. But a few extra minutes on each could make a big difference! -Pete (talk) 20:20, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
