Most likely. St. Francis is out of copyright in Canada (and likely elsewhere) and is currently being hosted on Wikilivres, a Canadian repository run by a current Wikisource user to host works that we legally can't.—Zhaladshar ^(Talk) 13:27, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

content labels

Re: 'without text' I agree, a 'non-empty' page needs its progress noted, the problem is the label notes the proofreading-status. The index is primarily intended to manage text, I suppose, but it functions as a guide to the work-space. And validated is finished according to the coloured ribbon in main space. Finding missing images is a matter of plodding through each page, to see how different editors have used the labels.

I don't discriminate between types of 'content', but I try to accommodate what i see as a cultural view-point on images; i can't win, anyway I mark them causes surprise and distraction :| Cygnis insignis (talk) 14:35, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

It wasn't quite a surprise or a distraction. I was more just trying to keep with the consistency of the index itself, which already had plates labeled as verified when I went through them. It's just a quirk of my editing that I like to see every page verified unless it truly is a blank page. It's no biggie, though.—Zhaladshar ^(Talk) 13:30, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

I improved one of the images, the version at gutenberg used small images too, I went to the larger jpeg file at IA.org and created a coherent image. I believe the community standard has been that a transcript is checked by at least one other user before nomination. I would make a couple other suggestions, but I wonder if you checked with the creator before nominating it? He might not consider ready, there are other potential candidates that could be promoted while this one is being polished up. cygnis insignis 22:32, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

It was validated. It's already been checked by two users. Any polishing that needs to be done can be done while it's in FTC discussion, as has happened quite a lot with many of our featured texts. I'll stand to one side, but reiterate that much of it has only been checked by our colleague. I'm not quibbling over some technicality of FT criteria, I have found a lot of problems with the method of transcription. Featuring this invites users to create a bot, create a new text, then validate it. I've strongly objected to the procedure, and spent a good amount of time tidying up broken, incomplete, and ill matched texts - so now I have a strong opinion. The version is not as good as gutenberg's, not the best we can do, and the ability to do the same to another text is limited to a select few. I chose not to air this at FT, I have previously raised objections and the seems to be regarded as invalid. You may as well blank this, I've had my say cygnis insignis 17:00, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Academic papers

Hello, I have uploaded two of my own papers (logic and meaning... and Mapping Information...) to WikiProject Academic Papers. As there did not seem to be a place to put them I created a new category "information Systems". I left them in "Projects Pending" for a while, then moved them to "Projects needing review". I'm new to this and am not sure that I have been following the correct procedure.

Also I am not sure what happens next. The instructions say "mark them as complete when 2 people have reviewed them". What is the review procedure?

PDF mess

I uploaded three papers in txt and hypertext format without any problem. But I seem to have made a mess of things trying to upload pdf files. The files:

should be deleted (but I do not know how to do this). What I wanted to upload is at

File:SSM to Information Systems.pdf

I wanted to put it at WikiProject Academic Papers/Projects Pending, but don't know how to get it there.

DJVU mess

Please delete all files relating to "SSM to information systems: A Wittgensteinian approach". Attempts to enter a scan of this dotmatrix document into the proofreading system have been a complete failure. I have re-typed the paper and want to start again by uploading it directly (as I have done with three other papers).

The paper falls between two stools. It was written using word processing software that no longer exists and can not be converted. The printing is dotmatrix and does not scan well. If it had been produced earlier it would have been well typed and could go scan/OCR. If it have been produced later the files could have been converted. There is a later, better copy, but this is copyright of the publishers.

Sorry for the trouble, but I hope you will bear with me on this. What I am trying to do is find a way to upload modern academic work to Wikisource without breaking global copyright laws. Hello again Zhaladshar, I missed your last post and in the interim managed to get the index page and two other pages in the proof reading system deleted using the "rapid delete/upload request" thingy. All that remains is the DJVU files. E.G. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Page:SSM_to_Information_Systems.djvu/1 this goes on to ...djvu/16. Much of that <div> formatting

A note. Div formatting in class=prose, =lefttext =indented-page no longer functions with transcluded pages (there was some stuff at WS:S about it, though it was not well-announced and explained), though still functions fine in non-transcluded pages. Other classes I don't know. Worse is that when it is done, it hides the top page numbers. We are now meant to have the different layouts through the toggle in the sidebar. — billinghurst sDrewth 02:32, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

That was a change I did know about. When I first tried it, though, without the div tag, the footnotes didn't get formatted with the rest of the text, in any of the layouts.
