Gandhiji and the other inmates of the Ashram were worried, as they did not know how they could carry on their work and look after and feed everybody who lived there without the help of these rich men. They were determined, however, that no matter what happened they would not give in to these prejudices and ask Laxshmi and her father and mother to leave.
