Notes

Emerson's "Self-Reliance" is not generally classified as fiction. Nor is Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience".

Thoreau was an essayist. He doesn't belong in fiction.

Are you allowed to put regular books in here like the DaVinci Code?

Generally no. The titles here should be public domain stuff that we can actually add to wikisource. --CSN 22:08, 29 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Isn't "If" a poem? Shouldn't it go with poetry?

It is. I've removed it from here. --illy 9 February 2006

Since Midnight's Children (Salman Rushdie) has still decade's to go before coming into the public domain, I'm going to remove it from this listing. --illy 10 February 2006

Ditto for The Crimson Petal and the White (Michel Faber). --illy 10 February 2006

Since this page is getting larger, I'm removing the links to the individual parts of Crime and Punishment. --illy 10 February 2006

Also removing "Animal Farm" (George Orwell) since were still at least 2 decades from the public domain. --illy 10 February 2006

Ditto "The Catcher in the Rye" (J. D. Salinger) --illy 10 February 2006

Ditto "I, Robot" (Issac Asimov) --illy 10 February 2006
