EUPHEMIA, FLAVIA ÆLIA MARCIA,
Was married to the Emperor Justin the First, in 618. She was originally a slave, of what country is not known; but she was mistress to Justin before he married her. She died before the emperor, about the year 623, without children. She owed her elevation to her fidelity, and the sweetness of her disposition.
