LAMPETIANS, the followers of Lampetius, a Syrian monk, who in the seventeenth century taught that, as man is born free, a christian, in order to please God, ought ot do nothing by necessity; and that it is therefore unlawful to make vows, even those of obedience. To this system he is said to have added certain tenets of the Carpocratians, &c.^[1]
