JACOB. The Bible patriarch of that name. Individually he is seldom referred to in the Book of Mormon, but the Israelites are frequently spoken of as the seed or the house of Jacob, and the Lord as the God of Jacob; while the promise is made on several occasions to the righteous that they shall sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
