HANCOCK (JOHN), bookseller in London, (1) Bible in Birchen Lane; (2) Pope's Head neer the Exchange; (3) In Cornhill at the entrance unto Pope's Head Alley. 1643-66. Took up his freedom October 1st, 1638. [Arber, iii. 688.] Dealt largely in political broadsides, but amongst his publications was an edition of Gildas' Description of Great Britain, 1652.
