Sm.; prob. =בי אפיא, פ softened through assimilation, cmp. תפייא a. בי תפי) a frying pan, sometimes used as a coal pan con- taining the coal over which things are roasted. Pes. 30b בוב׳ האי (Ms. M. 2, Ms. Oxf. Ar. and old ed., v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 10); Zeb. 95b (Ms. R. 1 מביא, corr. בו׳; Ms. K. בוכיא). Sabb. 29a he threw the date stones לבוביא Ms. M. a. Ar. (Y. (בחל I) prop. aversion, sickness, hence (cmp. באש) a certain stage in the growth of the fig (inter- mediate between פגה and צמל), when its head becomes white; trnsf. the stage of female puberty intermediate between childhood (ילדות) and full womanhood (בגרות). Nidd. V, 7theScholars have introduced figurative terms for the stages of womanhood; paggah, bohal &c.; ימי אלו ב׳ נעוריה bohal means the days of maidenhood. V. בחל.
