בחירה f. (בחר) selection, being chosen. Y. Meg. I, 72d (ap וכ׳ שנ׳ ב׳ מה as the selection (expression בחר) used there &c. -- הב׳ בית (also with omission of בית) the Temple of Jerusalem. Snh. 20b; a. fr. - Y. Yoma I, 38c bot. וכ׳ הב׳ עידיכם your witness, the Temple, shall prove it (Bab. ib. 9b בירה).
בחירתא f. ch. (v. preced.) B'hirta (selection), sur- name of the'almudic treatise named Eduyoth or Ediyoth (עדיות). Kidd. 54b bot.; Bekh. 26a.
בחל I (b. h.; בח, cmp. בה s. v. בהי) [1) to be disordered, sick; whence בוחל q. v.]. -- 2) (denomin. of בוחל) to be in that stage of ripening when the fig is called bohal; cmp. באש. Nidd. 47a (quot. fr. Maasr. I, 2) התאנים וכ׳ משילבינו . . . . משיבחלו figs are subject to tithes from the time they are called bohal, which R. . . defines, from the time their heads grow white. Pi. ביחל (ביחיל), Hif. הבחיל same. Shebi. IV, 7 וכ׳ ביחלו, (Y. ed. ביחילו). Y. ib. 35b bot.; Y. Maasr. I, 48d (חיתה) וכ׳ חייתה ביחילו מאי what is bih.?
