ב Beth, the second letter of the Alphabet. Its sound lies betwen p (פb) and v (), whence its interchange with either, e. g. הפקר and הבקר; בא (אבא) and ווא. -- ב also interchanges with מ, as בולטיתא a. מלטיתא; cmp. b. h. מלט a. פלט.

אתרונגא m. (an affected pronunciation of אתרוגא; v. תרונגא; Pers. turundj)אתרוגא. Kidd. 70a א׳ חאומר כל וכ׳ whoever says EEthrunga betrays a third (goodly) portion of haughtiness; either say Ethrog (hebr.) as the Rabbis do, or Ethroga (ch.) as the people do. Cmp. גונדריתא.

באגא, בגא m. (בוג dial. for בוק, cmp. בקע) valley, plain; (h. בקעה) a group of fields belonging to several owners, rural community. B. Bath. 29a one single field בא׳ בכוליה (Ms. H. a. O. בכולה) in the whole plain. B. Mets. 22b וכ׳ בארעא ב׳ we need not presume an entire plain to be the property of minors; a. e. -- Pl. באגי, כגי. *באגנא m. (v. באגא) 1) cavity in the field, pool. Pl. באגני. B. Kam. 61b top, Ms. M. נאגני q. v. - 2) (cmp. בקיע, a. בקע Josh. IX, 4) broken or burst water-vessel. -- Pl. as above. Ber. 58a גליא באגני Ms. M. (read ליא, v. יא I; ed. כגני, read בגגי; Ms. F. ניגני דשיג׳ כאגני, read; ׳ (ג(ורסין ויש ב׳, v. נאגני) whither do the broken vessels go? (i. e. what has the blind man to do here?).
