Sabb. 67b לא וסינוק גדי גד (Ms. M. צינוק), a. charm formula supposed to mean, Be lucky, my luck, and tire not (prob. Grow, my luck &c., v. נגד). Hull. 40a דהר לג׳ to the godhead of the mountain. Ned. 56a (ex- plain. דרגש) דג׳ ערסא the bed reserved for the domestic genius (bed of state). Y. Ab. Zar. I, 39d top וכ לגדיה, v. ארקליס. Gen. גדד I (b. h.; cmp. גזז, קצץ) to cut, cut of. Par. II, 2; Bekh. 44a יגוד let him lop of (the black tops of the horns or hoofs). - [V. גדר.]- Trnsf. (cmp. קצן) to figg the price. B. Bath. 13a אגוד או גוד either fix you a price for my share, or Ishall do so (and buy your share); אגוד או דגוד דינא the right of settling by god o agod. Ib. ליכא גוד איכא אגוד the offer to buy is applicable in this case (the half-freed slave can offer to buy his other half), but the offer to sell cannot be made (since there is no price for a free man). -- Part. pass. גדוד stripped (of branches); trnsf. cmmpty-handed. Gen. R. s. 68, beg. שלחו ג׳ (Yalk. ib. 117 גדודי) Isaac sent Jacob away with- out anything valuable. Pi. גד to cut off, level. Gen. R. s. 71 (play on גד בא, Gen. XXX, 11) וכ׳ לגדד שעתיד מי בא he has come who is destined tto level the fastnesses of the nations (idolatry). Tanr. Ki Thissa 13 (play on גד מגדל, Josh. גדודי m. stripped, empty-handed, v. גדד.
גדודית f. (dimin. of גדוד) small troop. Pl. גדודיות. Sifra B'huck. beg. (ref. to Lev. XXVI, 31) I shall lay waste your sanctuaries הג׳ מן even of the troops (of travellers; Rashi; of pilgrims).
