גו, גו m. (b. h.; cmp. גב) belly, botty; prep. within, among. Keth. 15a; B.Kam. 44b, a. e. לגו אבן זורק one who throws a stone into (a crowd); Yalk. Deut. 921 לגוי (corr. acc.). Keth. 11 1a; Kidd. 44b בגו דברים there is something in it, v. עב end.
גו, גיןו, גו, גוא, conar. גו, גוא ch. same; 1) (=h. קרב) belly; innermost. Targ. Ex. XXIX, 13; a. e. Targ. Prov. XXVI, 24. Targ. O. Deut. III, 16 (h. text תוך); a. fr. -- Sabb. 152b דביתא לגויה (insert וליזול) and go home. Cant. R. to IV, 8 ike the hen קטמא מגווא גפה דמנערא (readמגוא) that shakes her wings off(rising) from between the ashes (Gen. R. s. 75 beg. קיטמא מן). Cant. R. to I, 7 בגויה קאים דהוה יומא the day on which he stood, i. e. that every day; a. fr. -- Pl. גויא. Targ. Prov. XX, 27 (ed. Lag. גוייה). -- 2) (with or without ב) among, amid; in, into. Targ. Ex. B. Bath. 31a לשקר לו מה וכ׳ בעי אי why should he lie? If he wanted to lie, he might have said &c.). Keth. 16a איכא מ׳ מאי התם what miggo is there in that case, i. e. what choice did she have in inventing a statement, if she intended to ttell a. lie? Ib. וכ׳ מ׳ והאי מ׳ האי מכדי since in this case there is the legal presumption of a migg0, and so is in the other, what is the difference between the one miggo and the other?; a. fr. -- 2)(cmp. אגב)an action declaredvalidbecause one part of it was indisputably legitimate, or because the legal status reguired for its legitimacy might easily have been obtained. B. Mets. 9b וכ׳ מפקר בעי דאי מ׳ since, if he wanted, he might have declared his possession public property, in which case he would have obtained the legal status of poverty entitling him to the corner of the field (פאה), and since (if he had resigned his property) he would have been entitled to take possession of the corner for himself, he has a right also to take possession of it in behalf of his neighbor. Ib. אמרינן לא מ׳ תרי two miiggos cannot be accepted, i. e. two conditions required to make an action legitimate cannot be dispensed with. Ib. 8a. Ned. 88b; a. e.

גואל m. (b. h.; גאל) vindicator, redeemer, relative entitled to redemption (Lev. XXV, 25 sq.); in general relation. - הדם ג׳ avenger ofblood, nearest relation (Num. XXXV, 19 q.). Macc.II, 7. Ib. 12a [read ] בנו בנו שהרג אב הדם ג׳ לו נעש׳ when a father killed a son of his, his (sur- viving) son becomes the avenger of blood. Tanh. Mase 11 הג׳ אותו וימצא and the avenger may meet him; Num. R. s. 23 הד ג׳. Macc. 10a (ref. to Deut. XIX, 6)הכתוב הדם בג׳ וכ׳ the text means the avenger (is not punished); a. fr. -- Pl. גואלים, גואלין. B. Kam. 109a; Kidd. 21a(ref. to Num. V, 8) ג׳ לו שאין אדם יש וכי is there a person. .. without relations (heirs)?; Snh. 68b גואל. B. Kam. . cb; Snh. 69a בידוע ׳ לו שאין it is known that the minor has no heirs (off- spring); a. fr. -- Esp. the redeemer from captivity, also the Lord. Lev. R. s. 32 end; Cant. R. to IV, 7; Koh. R. to IV, 1 (ref. to וגלה, Zech. IV, 2) one reads גולה (He emigrates), and one reads גואלה (not גאולה) her Redeemer (goes at the head of Israel). Ib. פרוקא גואלה דאמר מאן (not גאולה) he who reads גואלה means 'the Redeemer as it says (Is. XLVII, 4), Our redeemer &c. -- Pesik. S'lih. p. 166b אין מלא בג׳ אלא . . . they will be redeemed only through a. complete redeemer (ref. to גואל Is. LIX, 20 written plene). Ex. R. s. 26 beg.; a. r. -- Pl. as above. Gen. R. s. 85; Yalk. ib. 145 עומדים ג׳ מהיכן (not גדולים) whence will the redeemers rise (if not from Judah)? Ib. מעוברת אני ׳ I am g0ihg pregnant with redeemers (of Israel).
גואלקא, גולקא, גוולקא m. (Arab. guwalis, Pers. gawalakh=hippopera, Freytag s. v.) long pouch as a re- ceptacle for grain, thrown over the shoulders or across an animal's back, haversack. Taan. 23b גואלקי לי הבו וכ׳ (Ar. קא . . .; Ms. M. 2 גולקא שקיל, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 200) get me my haversack, and I shall go and buy &c. -- Pl. גואלקאן, גואלקי. Targ. Lam. V, 5. - Sabb. 154b, v. חבר (where Var. lect. are quoted). Succ. 20b לגואלקי חזו Ms. M. (ed. לגולקי) are fit for haversacks.
