גודריתא f. (גדר) partition; דקני ג׳ (=h. קנים חיצת) a hedge of reeds spreadingfrom a common stem. Erub. 19b (Ms. M. גודרייתא, pl.; Ar. גורדייתא). Sabb. 50b דקני בגורד׳ ed. (corr. בגודר׳, Ms. M. בגרירתא, corr. בגדיר׳; Ar. בי גזרתא) (to put a knife) between the branches of a hedge of reeds. [The vers. of Ar. proves גודר׳ to be the proper version and גורד׳ or גריר׳, corruptions.]
גודש m. (גדש) the heap, the top over the level of a dry measure. Zeb. 62b סאה ג׳ כמחק as thick as the in- strument for striking off the top of a S'ah. Men. IX, 5 (90a) לתוכה גודשה היה (Var. גדשה) its heap was added to the measure, i. e. the additional quantity forming the top of other measures, was contained in the Highpriest's measure which was so much larger.
גודשא ch. same. Erub. 14b לג׳ ההוא this refers to heaped measure (dry quantities). Ib. הוי תילתא ג׳ ההוא that top in dry measures amounts to one third off the entire quantity; Sabb. 35a.
גוהא (Ms. M. גיהא) m. (גנח=גנה, or גוח=גוה, v. Nold. Mand. Gr. p. 52) an abrupt sound, a subterranean thunder, earthquake, rumbling. Ber. 59a defining זועות (Mish. IX, 2). Ib. ג׳ גנח (Ms. M. גי׳ גנא) a thunder roared (a rumbling was heard). Ib. עביד ׳ ג׳ it really comes in one rumbling sound after the other.
גוהר, v. גיהר.
גוהרקא I f. (a corrupt. of גרהוקא, carruca, καρουχα, ~קo~v~) a carriage used by persons of distinction (v. Sm.Ant. s. v.). Taan. 20b דדהבא כ׳ a gilt carruca (aurea carruca, v. Sm. Ant. l. c.); Gitt. 31b. B. Mets. 73b מעייל דרבא בג׳ להו made them draw Raba's carriage. Ib. 85b חייא דר׳ ג׳ the carriage in which R. Hiya will rise to heaven. -- Pl. גוהרקי. Ib. ׳ בכולהו Ms. H. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 90).
גוהרקא II m. (=הרקא גוו; cmp. Syr. חרוק acerbus P. Sm. 1384, a. h. חרצן) sour and hard berry. -- Pl. גוהרקי. Naz. 34b גוה׳ ed. (Ar. גורקי) undeveloped grapes. - Pes. 25b גוהרקי Ms. M. (ed. נוהרקיה, Ar. גרקי) undeveloped olives (used for rubbing the skin in fever).

גווזא I m. (גוז)=h. גזע, 1) trunk, stem. Ber. 40ab ו׳ ל׳ איתיה (Ms. F. גזעא, Ar. גזא) there remains a. stem which produces fruits again. Ab. Zar. 35b קטפא דגוזא ed. (Ms. M. גווזא, Ar. גזא, גנזא, v. Koh. Ar. Compl. s. v. ג II, p. 262); Nidd. 8b דגווזא קטפא the gum which oozes out of the stem, opp. דפירי. --- Ned. 50a (became rich) גוזא מן through a (hollowed out) trunk. Ib. לא וכ׳ גווזא אלא אשכחו they found on the sea shore no- thing [of the wrecked ship) except attrunk. Ib. עיסקא וכולי גוזא בההוא מחית (Ar. גיאזא, read גו׳) and the entire treasure of the ship was hidden in that trunk; [Rashi; chest, v. גוזא]. -- 2) [that which is cut oו] branches; [that which is chopped,] wood. Hull. 8b לע״ז ג׳ ביה פסק (Ar. גואזא) he cut wood with it for idolatrous purposes. B. Kam. 22b וכ׳ סילתא ג׳ (Ms. O. a. Ar. גואזא) chopped wood, kindling chips and light. Sabb. 154b פרסכנא גואזא ed. (Ms. M. ופ׳ גווזא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) low and spread- ing ramifications (forming the fourth wall of a cSuccah). Gitt. 69b, v. מרמהין. -- גווזי. Sabb. 15 5alet him rest the ladder וכ׳ אגוו׳ Ms. M. (ed. אגוואזי, Ms. O. גואזא) on the branches spreading beyond the circumference of the tree (Rashi on pegs reaching beyond &c.). -3) pl. גאוזין (cmp. איסקוזות) lots, division by lots. Lam. R. to I, 1 רבתי (מאת׳ חד 1) ג׳ נעביד let us divide by lots (comment.; pieces of wood on which names are written for raffling).
גווזא, II m. (v. preced.) castrate, eunuch; in gen. servant, guardsman. Targ. I Kings XXII, 9; a. fr. (var. נוזא, גואזא, גוזאה &c. - Sabb. 152a גוזאה ההיא ed. (ed. Sonc. גוזא, v. Rabb. D. גוון, גון (גון, constr. גון) m. (גו) surface, color; resemblance. Erub. 53b (as specimen of elegant language) טליתך גוון מאי of what color is thy cloak -- Midr. Till. to Ps. XC, end ג׳ מכל תכלת [בחר] מה מפני why has the blue been preferred to any other color?-- Pl. גוונים, נין. . . Ber. 6b. Nidd. 24b תנן ׳ the Mishnah (III, 2 גנינים) speaks of variegated colors. Num. R. s. 12 הרבה וג׳ הרבה מינין many qualities and many colors; a. fr. -- Trnsf. כגון (cmp. כעין s. v. עין) like, similar to; for example. שר כגוון (Chald. ד׳ כגון) for instance if, when. Ps. 119b וכ׳ תמרים כג׳ such things as dates, roasted ears &c. Ib. לי אורדילאי כג׳ e. g. mushrooms for me. B. Mets. 101a רבה צריכא דא כג׳ some- thing like this was very necessary to be said.
