גומא f. (גמא to scrape, v. Targ. Job XXXIX, 24) hole, indentation, Hull. II, 9 (41a). B. Bath. 16a for each hair עצמה בפני ג׳ a separate follicle. Y. Keth. גומד m. (b. h. גמד, v. גמד) 1) gomed, a length-measure, supposed to be the cubitt ess the hand's length; arm. [Arakh. 11a אמה וגמדה Ar. and the arm of the scraper was one cubit, contrad. to היא itself, i. e. the perpendicular part; ed. וגובה.]-- Pl. גמדים, גומדין. B. Bath. 100a גמ׳ שני ed. (Ms. M. a. גונדא II f. (=גודא) 1) wall. Pl. גונדי. Sot. 22b דחייפי ג׳ (Ar. s. v. הף 5, v. infra) who scratch themselves against the walls (in saintly self chastisement). -- 2) gunda, name of a domestic overall used at work for the pro- tection of one's clothes, duster. *itt. 68b (in Hebr. * diction) גונדו his duster (was all that was left to Solomon) (Snh. 20b (Ms. M.) Yalk. Kings 177, Tanh. Ahaare 1 קודו; Koh. R. to II, 10קודיה; Y. Snh. II, 20c bot. קניא). Sabb. 119a R. Anan (while preparing for the Sabbath) ג׳ לביש (Ms. O. גורנא, Alf. Ms. גודנא, Asheri ed.
