גיר III, גירא II, גיררא m. (גרי, גרר; cmp. b. h. שלח) 1) projeciile, arrow. Targ. Is. XXXVII, 33. Targ. Job XLI, 20; a. fr. -- Gitt. 56a וכ׳ ג׳ שדא he shot an arrow eastward. B. Kam. 26b מפסקי פסוקי דשדייה בעידנא גיריה (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) at the time he let his arrow off, its force was broken, i. e. when he threw the vessel down, polsters were there.to prevent its breaking. Succ. 38a וכ׳ בעיניה ג׳ דין this is an arrow in the tempter's eyes, i. e. this enables us to defy him. גיראה m. (denom. orגירא II) shooter, (Rashi;) arrow- maker. Pes. 28a (prov.) וכ׳ מקטיל בגיריה ג׳ (ed. גירא, corr. acc., v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) when the shooter (arrow--maker) is killed by his own arrow, he is paid from the spinnings of his own hand.

גירומים, גירומין m. pl. (גרם) that which goes along, customary addition to weight or measure at sales. B. Bath. VI, 11 גירומיו לו נותן (Bab. ed. 88b מין . . ., Y. ed. מים . . . .) he must give him the due surplus. Sifra. K'doshim Par. 9, ch. VIII.
