גלגלין, גילגלין m. pl. (used as sing; גלל) girdle of net-work, bandage, wrap. Eduy. III, 4 (Ms. M. גנגלון, v. infra). Neg. XI, 11 גלגלון. - Y. Naz. VII, 56b bot. נקבר וכ׳ קטן ג׳ אפי׳ if there is buried with the corpse even a small wrap (or belt), the law concerning decayed corpses (v. רקב) finds no application. Ib. if two corpses are buried beside each other וכ׳ לזה ג׳ נעשה each acts as gillg'lin to the other (suspending the law of rakab); Bab. ib. 51a; Nidd. 27b גנגילון. Tosef. Kel. B. Bath. V, 9 גנגלין. גלגלתא f. (גלל) bal, round stone. Gitt. 47a וג׳ חייתא a bag and a stone (in it).
גלד to form a coating; to congeal, become solid. Y. Ber. I, 2c bot. הרקיע יגלך let the (iquid mass of the) firmament solidify; Gen. R. s. 4, beg. וכ׳ טיפה גלדה the intermediate layer of water solidified. -- Part. pass. גלוד, f. גלודה (denom. of גלד) skinned, flayed in consequence of bruises, scabs &c. Hull. III, 2; Tosef. ib. III, 7; a. e. Hif. הגליד 1) same. Tosef. Par. IX (VIII), 8 הגלידו froze. Nidd. 56b; Tosef. ib. VI, 13 מגליד forms a clodded surface, opp. מקדיר penetrates. -- 2) to form a rind, scab; v. infra. Hof. הוגלד to be covered with a scab (of a wound). Hull. 51a המכה פי הו׳ Rashi a. Ar. (ed. הגליד) if the top of the wound is covered with a crust; Keth. 76b; Tosef. Hull. III, 11 הגליד.

גלד m. (b. h.; גלד) 1) coating, skin; thickness. Y. B. Bath. III, 13c top ג׳ שעושה מקום עד the fifty cubits of legal distance from the inhabited place are counted from the end of the town to the place where he flays the carcass. Yoma 44b [reado] והיום עב ולבה היה יום בכל דק (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l.) all the year around the pan was of a thick size, and this day (Day of Atonem.) it was thin. Num. R. s. 13 דק גילדו . . . . גילדה קערה the charger was of a heavy size, the bowl &c. R. Hash. 27b if he scraped the Shofar גלדו על והעמידו and reduced it to its due size. Lev. R. s. 7 ג׳ דהוה וא״ת (Ar. גליד) but you may think the bronze on ttop of the altar was a. solid mass, v. וורדייני. -- 2) scab of a wound, crust. Mikv. IX, 2 למכה שחון ג׳ (Maim. וכ׳ גבי שעל גליד) the scab surrounding the wound(Maim.;on the wound). -- Pl. גלדים, constr. גלדי, גילדי. Ib. וכ׳ צואה ג׳ the scabby, dirty spots on one's body.
גלדא, גיל׳ ch. same; 1) plate, covering. Targ. Y. INum. VII, 13 סמיך גי׳ (=עב גלד, v. preced.). - Pl גלדין גי׳ Targ. Ezek. XXVII, 24 ג׳ חפן (gold, or silver) plated. -- 2) scab, scurf. Pl. גלדי, גי׳. Hull. 46b lungs fullג ג׳ ofscabs. - 8) skin, leather. Targ. I Sam. XVII, 5 (v. Lag. I, p. XVI) ימא נוני דגלד שריין (ed. גלבין שרין) a coat of mail made of the skin of sea-fishes (h. text קשקשים). -- Snh. 110a; Pes. 119a דג׳ וקלפי אקלידי (Ms. M. קופלי, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) the keys and the locks (the stiff rims of the bags usually of metal) were of leather (so as to be of light weight). Ber. 43b בגי׳ on the leather of the shoe, opp. פנתא, v. אפנתא (Rashi; heel).
