דגל m. (b. h.) troop, division, cohort (cmp. caterva); standard. Cant. R. to II, 4 ודגלו Michael and his band (of angels); a. e. -- Pl. דגלים. Num. דגן m. (b. h.; v. next w.) pile; grain, bread, bread- stuff. Pesik. R. s. 10 עולם של דגנו are the store of the world. Tosef. Ber. IV, 15; Y. ib. VI, 10b שהוא הד׳ וכ׳ the more preferable kind of bread. Tosef. l. c. שהוא כל ד׳ מין ואינו שבע מין whatever belongs to the seven pro- duces (Deut. VIII, 8) but not to breadstuffs; Bab. ib. 37b. Pes. דגן, thpe. אידגן to be piled up, stored. Ned. 55a shall we judge (fr. R. Meir's opinion VII, 2, v. preced.) דמידגן כל משמע dagan implies everything which is piled up? -- Ber. 47b; Bets. 13b וכ׳ אי׳ (אד׳) האי the one (the piled up) has become dagan, the other (standing in the ears) is not yet dagan (with ref. to Num. XVIII, 27).
