דויל m. (דול Af.) winding; clue, only in ידיה דורל tthe clue which one's own hand wound up, i. e. one's oiin doing. Pes. 28a, v. יראה. Cmp. דליל. 2 ע Part. pass. דך, v. דך. -- 2) to designate, mark off, v. דוך II. [Gen. R. s. 5, v. דוך III.] Nif. נידוך, נדוך to be pounded, crushed. Bets. I, 7 כדרכן נדוכין are pounded (on Holy Days) in their usual way. Ib. 14a וכ׳ לדוכה as to pounding it (salt) alone. Yoma 75a וכ׳ שנ׳ דבר something which is pounded in the mortar (spices); a. fr. Pol. דוכך, part. pass. מדוכך crushed. Yalk. Ps. 848 אנו מדוככים we are crushed (Gen. R. s. 5 מדוכנין, v. דכן).
דוך ch. same. Part. דאיך, דאיך. Targ. O. Num. XI, 8. Berrs. 14a דוך, v. intra. Pa. דייך same. Bets. 14a וכ׳ דייכת כי ed. (Ms. M. דוק . . . דייקת) when thou poundest (on a Holy Day), bend the mortar sideways and pound. Af. אדיך (cmp. דעך) to extinguish. Kidd. 81a כ׳ע אתו לאדוכיה Ar. s. v. אדך (missing in ed.) people came to put the fire out.

דוך III m. (v. preced.) leader, chief commander, only in דוכנין דוך (an adaptation of dux ducum, bb goov, v. Du Cange s. v.) the leader of the services of the Levites, v. דוכן. Y. Sabb. X, 12c; Num. R. s. 7 (rendering of נשיא נשיאי Num. III, 32). Ib. s. 4, end [read ] דוך היה אלעזר וכ׳ דוכנין Eleazar was chief commander, prince over princes; cmp. דוכוס. -* l. דוכים. Gen. R. s. 5 (play on דכ״ם, Ps. XCנIII, 3) (the rivers lift up their voices', say- ing to the waves of the Sea) קבלונו דוכים ye leaders, receive us; [Yalk. Ps. 848 אנו דכים we are crushed].

דוכו m. (cmp. דוך II) place to stand on, stand, stage, esp. Dukhan, the priests'stage fromwhich they pronounce the benediction. Midd. II, 6; a. fr. לד׳׳־ עלה to go up the stage, to officiate as priest. Sabb. 118b; a. e. --2) religious service from the stand, the Levite's singing, teaching. דוכסוסיא m. (v. דוך III, a. סוסיא; a popular ad- aptation of טכסיוטא, ~em~~) the magistrate's officer, sergeant. Meg. 27a דוכסו׳ ed. (Ms. M. דוכסס׳, Ar. דכסס׳), expl. by R. Shesheth דמתא פרשא the riding messenger of the town. [Cmp. דורקטי.]
דוכסותא f. (denom. of דוכסא) dukedom, (ducatus), governorship. Cant. R. to VI, 12 [read] דגובבתא ד׳ לי הב give me the governorship of G. (v. גובבתא). Ib. נסב כד וכ׳ ד׳ having entered the office he came down from there (to Sepphoris).
