דעד, Targ. Nah. III, 12 some ed., v. רעד.
דעדק (=דקדק, v. דקק) to crush, break into small fragments; to humiliate. Targ. II Chr. XXXIV, 7. Targ. Job XVI, 12 (Ms. Var. דצדק׳, corr. acc.). Ib. XL, 12. דעדק m. (preced.) powdered; minute, tender, young. Targ. O. Ex. XVI, 14 (Y. דקיק) something powdered. -- Targ. Am. VII, 1; a. e. - Pl. דעדקין, דעדקיא; . דעדקן. Targ. Jer. XVI, 6. Targ. O. Num. דעה, דיעה f. (b. h.; ידע) knowledge, understanding, reason; view; taste. Snh. 92a ד׳ בו שיש אדם a man that has obtained knowledge. Lev. R. s. I (prov.) וכ׳ קנית ד׳ if thou hast acquired knowledge, what doest thou lack? &c. -- Cant. R. to IV. 3 וכ׳ של סרוחה ד׳ the corrupt mind of, i. e. the fool, Ahasver; a. v. fr. -- Pl. דעות, דיעות (used also in Chald. phrases). Shebu. 42a ד׳ רוב בתר אזלינן we are guided by the majority of opinions;Yoma 83a;em. 27b אזליננן ד׳ בתר. Shebu. l. c. לד׳ דנחית כיון since he cared to mention a certain number of minds (as witnesses). Y. Sot. I, 17a; Tosef ib. V, 9; a. e. וכ׳ ד׳ שיש כשם as men differ in tastes (sensibilities) as regards food and drink, so do husbands differ &c. Pes. 112a וכ׳ ד׳ ארבע there are four thoughts &c. דעוון, דעון f. pl. ch. (preced.) opinions. Y. Yeb. I, 2c bot.; Y. Kerh. VI, beg. 30c וכ׳ אית ד׳ ד׳ there are diferent opinions related in behalf of &c.; ib. V, 30a ttop רעיון רעיון (corr. acc.).
דעך (b. h.; cmp. דוך) to crush, stamp upon. Sifre Num. 160. Nif. נדעך to be stamped upon, crushed, annihilated. Pesik. R. s. 35 להם והלכו נדעכו they were annihilated (their resistance broken) and gone.
דעך ch. same, esp. to extinguish, quench. Targ. Prov. XVI, 14 נדעכניה ed. Lag. (some ed. נדעינ׳, corr. acc.). -- דעיך to be quenched. Targ. Is. XLIII, 17 דעיכו (ed. Lag. דעו׳). Targ. Prov. X, 7;XIII, 9, a. e. נדעך shall be quenched. Af. אדעיך to quench. Ib. XV, 18.
דעץ (v. דוץ II) to prick, squeeze, fix, stick. - Part. pass. דעי fixed. Targ. Y. Ex. II, 21. Pa. דעיץ same. Targ. O. Gen. XXX, 38 ed. Berl. (some ed. וד׳; Bxt. ודעין Pe.). - B. Bath. 74a וכ׳ דעציתה (Ms. M. אנחיתיה, Arדצייה, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note). I stuck it on the point of the lance.

דעת f. (b. h.; v. דעה) knowledge, mind; temperament, physical disposition, constitution. ד׳ על עלתה to occur to one's mind, to strike. Sot. IX, 6 (45b); a. fr. הד־ שיקול weighing of opinions, i. e. decision between opposite views. Snh. 6 הד׳ בש׳ טעה made a mistake in deciding, against the common practice, a case concerning which there are opposite authorities, opp. to a decision against an established law; ib. 33a; Y. Keth. IX, 33a; Y. Snh. I, 18a bot. -- Y. Hag. II, 77b top נקיה דעתן אין their mind is not pure (unfit to study esoterics). -- B. Mets. 11b, a. e. מקנה אחרת ד׳ a deputized person (or fictitious person, e. g. one s ground) can take possession. Snh. 25a sq. עצמו בד׳ תולה one who makes the chance of a game dependent on his own action, e. g. throwing dice, תולה יונו בד׳ who makes it dependent on his dove's flight. --- Tosef. Hull. VII, 1 מכרעת וד׳ reason decides in favor c.; Hull. 90b תוה דדד ד מאי by saying reason decides' does he mean a reasonable interpretation of the Biblical law, or is he in doubt and 'reason decides' means נוטה ד׳ his opinion inclines in favor of &c. ?-- מד׳, לד׳ with the consent of, with the knowleage off, opp. כרחי בעל, v. כורח. Kidd. 44a אביה מד׳ with her father's consent; מדעתה with her consent. Ib. 36a צנון וכ׳ אד׳ .. . . people plant radishes with the intention of eating them when they are young. Ib. כר״׳ע דעתך מאי (in doing so) what was thy opinion? Is it that thou hold- est to R. A. -- Kidd. 81b; Ber. 26a, a. fr. אדעתאי לאו I did not think of it. Keth. 3a, a. fr. וכ׳ אד׳ דמקדש כל whosoever betroths a wife to himself does so with the implicit understanding that his act is in agreement with the rabbinical enactments. -- M. Kat. 17, v. בד.
