דקירה f. (דקר) act of digging, quantity of ground broten with one stroke. Bets. 8b. -- Pl. דקירות. Ib.
דקיתא f. collect. noun (דקק) young shoots. Targ. Y. Gen. XXII, 3 [read;] דתאנ׳ ד׳ (=תאנה של מרביות, v. Tam. 29b).

דקל m. (cmp. דקר) 1) palm-tree. Peah IV, 1. Tam 29b; a. fr. -- B. Bath. 36b נערה ד׳ (Ms. H. a. O. נעורה, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 3) a young palm bearing more than once a year (oth. opin.; one dropping its fruits prematurely). Ab. Zar. I, 5 טב ד׳ a variety called dekel tab (Chald. good palm). Sifra Thazr., Neg., Par. 5, ch. XIII הרים ד׳ אתה thou art a mountain-palm (too rash, v. Men. 84b top; Var. in R. S. to Neg. XI, 7 וכ׳ דוקר cutting through mount- ains, sophistical; Yalk. דקלא, דיק׳ ch. same, palm-tree. Targ. Ps. XCII, 13. Targ. Y. Gen. XXII, 3; a. e. -- B. Kam. 59a ארמאה ד׳ Ms. M. (ed. דארמ׳, incorr.) an Aramean palm, פרסאה ד׳ a. Persian palm. Ib. 92b (prov.) וכ׳ ד׳ ואזיל מטייל the bad palm will travel to meet a barren cane (like meets like). Ber. 55b bot. none see in a dream דדהבא ד׳ a golden palm-tree (a thing not experienced in reality). Erub. 51a וכ׳ דסביל ד׳ a palm-tree which supports its neighbor. דקלי m. (preced.) a palm-gardener. Gen. R. s. 41, beg.; Num. R. s. 3; Midr. Till. to Ps. XcII (Yalk. Ps. 845 אדם).
דקן, דקנא, דיק׳ m. ch. = h. זקן, beard, bearded chin, hair-growth. Targ. Lev. XIII, 29 sq.; a. fr. -- B. Bath. 58a בדיקניה תפשיה seized him by his beard. Gen. R. s. 72 (prov.) דיקני מן לסבי הניאת thou pleasest my grandfather (with hair) from my beard, i. e. you wish to be liberal at other people's expense; (Yalk. Gen. 129 דאקני מן לפני הבאת, corr. acc.). דקננא, דיק׳ m. (preced.) bearded, i. e. adult, major. - Pl. דקנני, די׳. B. Mets. 39a לדיקנני (Ar. לדיקני for beards, i. e. adults), v. אפיטרופא. Ib. 70a וכ׳ בד׳ אפי׳ is permitted even for the benefit of adult orphans.
דקק (b. h.; cmp. דוק, דוך) to crush, pound, powder. - Denom. דק. -- Pilp. דקדק q. v. Hif. הידק, הדק 1) same. Kerith. 6b הידק הידק היטב היטב pounding well &c.; Y. Yoma IV, 41d bot. כשהיה וכ׳ הדק אומר היה מידק when the attendant pounded, the superintendent called, Pound well &c. [Sifre Deut. 207 פשתן להדוק, read להדיק or לסרוק.]-- 2) to be fine, small.
