דקר (b. h.) 1) to dig, bore, pierce. Sabb. 110a, a. e. (explain. דקרין מי, v. דקל) וכ׳ דוקרין שהם because they make an opening in the bile. Y. Ned. IX, 41b bot. ודוקרה בלבו and sticks it (the sword) into his own heart. Gitt. 56a, v. next w. -- Kidd. 22b; a. fr. -- 2) (cmp. דקל) to spread, branch of. Succ. 13a Ar.; Erub. 11b; 16a הדוקרים קנים (הדוקרין) reeds which spread, i. e. the top reeds, v. דוקרן. - Part. Pu. מדוקר ramified, formed like a דוקרן. Erub. 11b Ar. דקר ch. same, to stab. Gitt. 56a למדקריה בעו (the guardsmen) wanted to stab his body (to see whether R. Joh. was really dead). Ib. (Hebr.) דקרו רבן יאמרו they (the Romans) will say, they stabbed their teacher. [Ex. R. s. 47 ודקרי, v. קרי.]

דקתא f. (דוק) stalks of flax beaten once (still hard and knotty), contrad. to דקדקתא thoroughly beaten, tow. Hull. 51b וכ׳ חיישינן ד׳ f a bird falls upon dakta, we must apprehend internal injury, if on daktakta, we need not. B. Bath. 26a top וכ׳ ד׳ אזלא הוה Ms. M. a. oth. (ed. ר׳, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 2) pieces of stalks flew off and injured people.

דררבן m. (b. h.; a contr. of דברברן, v. דבר) [leader,] goad, the iron point on the staff (מלמד); also the spud at the end of the handle of the ploughshare (v. Sm. Ant. s. vv. Aratrum a Catrinos). Hag. 3b וכ׳ זה ד׳ מה as the goad directs the cow &c. Kel. IX, 6 הד׳ שבלע מלמד a. goad (handle) in which the iron point was driven in so that nothing could be seen of it. Ib. XXV, 2, v. מרדע. דרג to leap, step. -Hif. הדריג to make a step (מדרגה), i. e. to fell trees at uneven heights from the ground, so as to make the stumps appear like steps, opp. החליק to cut at even heights. Y. Shebi. IV, 35b bot. [read ] יהא לא וכ׳ ומחליק מדריג ומדריג מחליק he must not cut one portion even and another step-like, but must make the stumps equally high; יחליק לדריג ידריג . . מקום where it is the castom to cut even, he must (in the Sabbatical year) cut uneven &c.; Tosef. ib.
