דרתא, דרתא, דרא f. (דור) 1) court-yard. Targ. x. XXViI, 12; a. fr. - l[arg. I Esth. V, 1; VI, 5 דרא; I Esth. דרתא.]-- Y. Snh. X, 28a bot. וכ׳ דר׳ דרתיה עד (ed. Krot. דרתה) to the court of R. דשא m. (b. h.) tender grass, herbage. - Pl. דשאים, דשאין herbs. Ber. VI, 1. Ex. R. s. 17, beg. Hull. 60a. Y. Kil. I, 27b top. R. Hash. 11a what month is it שהארץ וכ׳ ד׳ מוציאה in which the earth produces fresh green while the trees are full of fruits -- Ib. ד׳ מליאה הארן the ground is covered with herbs.
דשא (דשא, ד׳) m. (=דרשא, Sam. דרשה; דרש, cmp. also דוש) entrance, door-uway (v. דריסה); door. Targ. O. Gen. XIX, 6 דשא ed. Berl. (oth. ed. a. Y. דשא). Targ. O. Ex. XXI, 6 דשא ed. Berl. (Y. ד׳); a. fr. -- Hull. 52b, v. אתד. Sabb. 77b; Keth. 10b (phonetic etymol.) דרך דשא שם. Ib. לד׳ עברא כי (as strengthening) as the bolt to a. door. Ber. 56a דנפל ברייתא ד׳ (read דביתאי, v. Rabb. D. דשיתא pl. (דוש, cmp. דשושות a. גתיות) threshing (women) or gritsmakers. Ab. Zar. 24b ד׳ ביה דדיישן Ms. M. (ed. only דדיישן); Zeb. 116b דישאי דדיישן ed. (Ms. M. דישתאי דדישי); Men. 22a דשתאי בה דדשו (fr. דשש) where- with the threshers (or gritsmakers) crush the grain.
דשן (b. h.; cmp. דשא) to be moist, sappy, fat. Pi. דשן 1) to bless with rich pastures. Ber. 29a דשננו וכ׳ בנאות (cmp. Ps. XXIII, 2) give us pasture on the meadows of thy land. -- 2) (b. h.; denom. of דשן) to remove the ashes, to clean (the lamps). Tam. III, 9 מדשנן trims them. Yoma II, 3 וכ׳ מדשן מי who shall do the cleaning of the inner altar. Tam. III, I; a. . Nithpa. נדשן 1) to become sappmm, vigorous. Pirke d'R. El. ch. XXXII, end. -- 2) to be treated like the charred wick, to become anfit for sacred use. Men. 88b השמן ני׳ וכ׳ נידשנה the oil as well as the wick has become unfit.
דשן m. (b. h.; v. preced.) 1) fat, honorary gift, v. next w. - 2) ashes (of burnt flesh &c.). Zeb. V, 2, a. fr. הד׳ בית the place where the ashes of sacrifices were deposited. -- Pl. דשנין. Ib. 104b הדשנין בית שלש()
דשנא, דישנא ch. same, fat piece, honorary gift, present. Snh. 94b (ref. to II Chr. XXXII, 1 in connection with the preceding account) פרדשנא להאי ד׳ האי Ar.
