הוינא, v. הונא.
הוכיח m. (יכח) evidence, precedent, rule. Y. Dem. II, 22c top; ib. III, 23c this one day has become לכל ה׳ הימים a precedent by which tto judge all other days. Y. Nidd. II, 50a top קיים הוכיחה her evidence (the cloth with which she examined herself) exists; Bab. ib. 16b מוכיחה.
הול (cmp. הלל) to be merry. - Polel הולל to deride, laugh at (cmp. שחק). Pesik. Ahare, p. 169a (ref. to Koh. II, 2) הוללתים מה״ד . . . שלשה שלמה אמר Solomon said, Three things which Divine Justice scorned (and pro- hibited) -- I laughed at them; Tanh. Ahare 1 (read ששחקה, a. הוללתים); Y. Snh. II, 20c top חיללתים (corr. acc.); Koh. R. to II, 2 (read; שלמה for שמואל, a. הוללתים for תם . . .).
הוליא (inter.) hulya, sailor's cry. Pes. 112b, v. הייא.
הולכה f. (לך Hif.) 1) leading, carrying. Yoma 27a וכ׳ איברדם הולכת the carrying of the portions of the sacrifice to the altar ascent. Zeb. 14a לא ברגל שלא ה׳ ה׳ שמה carrying without moving the feet (handing over wiזhout walking from the spot) is not called holakhah. Ib. 15a זוטרתי ה׳ immediate sprinkling from a slaughter- ing place near the altar, opp. דבתי ה׳ actual carrying. -- לה׳ שליח a delegate sent by the husband to deliver the letter of divorce, opp. לקבלה שליח a delegate authorized by the wife to receive &c. Gitt. 62b; a. fr. -- [2) drawing the slaughterer's knife in a forward direction, v. הבאה.]
הוללה f. (b. h. הוללות confusion; הלל, cmp. חלל, חלחולית, חולחלתא) [reating confusion,] ntrigue, schemes. Koh. R. to II, 12 מלכות של ה׳ the diplomatic schemes of the (Roman) government (cmp. Targ. a. l., I, I, a. e.) Ib. מינות של ה׳ the intrigues of the heretics. -- Pl. הוללות. Lev. R. s. 17 (ib. s. 20 חלחליות), v. חלחולית; Midr. Till. to Ps. V, 6.

הומוניא f. (~~~~~) concord, union, opp. מחלוקת. Lam. R. introd. (R. Alexandri 1) ה׳ כולן נעשו all of them (formerly divided into factions) became unanimous(Mekh. הונאה, הונייה f. (=אונאה; ינה) oppression, wrong. Sifra B'har ch. III, Par. 3 דברים הניית . .. ממון הניית, read הוניית --Esp. (llaw)iiimposition, fraudulent represenfation; redress in case of overreaching, v. אונאה. B. Mets. IV, 6 Y. ed. (Mish. IV, 7 או׳) וכ׳ ההינייה the overreaching, to be actionable, must be at least four M'ah &c. Y. Keth. XI, 34c top וכ׳ ה׳ למקח אין against purchase there is no claim for overreaching, i. e. the purchase itself is not invalidated. Y. B. Mets. IV, 9d top עצמה ה׳ the actual amount overcharged.
