הוצא I m. (הוץ; cmp. חוץ, עוץ) 1) (adi.) prickly. B. Kam. 80a ה׳ שרצא Ms. M. (ed. חרצא) a prickly creeping animal, v. הרזא. -- 2) the long and thin foliage of a palm -branch spreading from the stem. Succ. 32a a Lulab ה׳ בחד דסליק which spreads its foliage on one side only. -- Pl הוצי. B. Kam. 96a if one stole a palm-branch ה׳ ועבדינהו and tore it into leaves. Yoma 78b בדה׳ in shoes made of &c. -- 3) prickly shrubbery used as fence, hedge. B. Kam. 92a (prov.) כרבא לקי ה׳ בהדי with the shrub the cabbage is smitten (the good suffer with the bad). הוקעה f. (יקע Hif.) making an abomination, ex- posure; hanging. Snh. 34b וכ׳ לה׳ מניין how do we know that hokaah (Num. XXV, 4) means hanging?
הור or הורה m. (b. h. in pl.; ירה) teacher, father. Deut. R. s. 1 (play on הזה ההר, Deut. II, 3) וכ׳ זה הורו this his hor, that is his father. -- Pl. הורים. Gen. R. s. 68; Yalk. Ps. 878, v. מעבדנא.
