*וטוב, וטיב m (יטב) sexual gratification. Shebu. 18a וטיב שימות עד Ar. (read וטיבו) until his gratification dies out; [Ar.; membrum virile; Hal. G'dol. אביטו, v. Perl. Et. St. p. 65]. -- Ed. וטוביה Chald. form; [Rashi; וטוביה and well is it with him, in which case it must read עד ו׳ הגיד שימות, v. Ar. s. v. מת].

וי. ווי. ויי m. h. a. ch. 1) woe; (inter.) oh! woe! Targ. Prov. XXIII, 29 ed. Wil. (ed. Lag. ייא or ויא). -- Targ. Ps. CX X, 5; a. fr. -- Gen. וידבר Vaydabber (and he spoke), name of the Fourth Book of Moses, Numbers. Gen. R. s. 64 ו׳ ספר. 1b. צביד וכ׳ תלתא ו׳ divided the Book of Numbers into three books. Yalk. Gen. 4 ו׳ ספר (Gen. R. s. 3 במדבר).
וידוי m. (ידה) confession of sin, prayer for pardon. Tosef. Yoma V (IV), 14; Yoma 87b וכ׳ ערב ו׳ מצות the proper time for confession (on the entrance of the Day of Atonement) is &c. Ib, בו׳ וחותם and closes the bene- diction with an allusion to confession (forgiveness). Y, ib. VI, 43c מעכב הו׳ the confession (by the High priest, Lev. ויניא, ווינייה (והונ׳) m. pl. denom. of וי or וה) woe-makers, a word coined in opposition to הוללים (merry-makers), and defined by אללי as a play on הולל־. Pesik. Ahare, p. 170a וכ׳ אללי שביאין אלו נייה ווי להון קרי (Ar. זהיינא, corr. acc.) called them (the hol'lim, Ps. LXXV, 5) vayyanaya, those who bring al'lay (woe) &c.; Lev.
