זוטר I (v. next w.) to be small, young. Hag. 5a שכיב אדז׳ (Ms. M. 2 אדיניק) died young. Ithpe. אתזוטר, איזוטר to shrink; to appear small. Ned. 50b וכ׳ כי דמתזוטרא עד until it is so reduced in size that you can swallow it. -- Snh. 95a בעיניה אי׳ (En Yak. אדזוטר) it seemed to him a small enterprise.

זוי m. (זהה, cmp. Syr. זוא tumuit, P. Sm. 1092) [breast, ] 1) projection, bay-window. Targ. I KKings VII, 4 (h. text מחזה). -- 2) a projection of a wall formed by abruptly reducing its thickness, so as to give space for a ballcony. -- Pl. זיי. Targ. Ez. זול I (b. h., v. זלל) to be of slight value, to be cheap; to be despicable, mean. Sabb. 55b (play on פחז, Gen. XLIX, 4) זלתה חבתה פזתה (not זלתא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 300) thou wast rash, becaimest guilty, degradedst thyself. Snh. 98a הזלה מלכות the despicable (Roman) government (Rashi; 'the slightest trace of tyranny). -- 2) (cmp. בוז) to squander, be excessive in sensual enjoy- ments, be dissolute. Num. R. s. 10 (ed. Amst. p. 240a) זלין של חבורה a company of dissolute men. -- Polel זולל, only as part. 1) low, mean. Midr. Prov. to II, 4 (ref. to Jer. XV, 19) מז׳ ד״ת להוציא . . . כל he who succeeds in making the words of the Loaw come forth from a low man (who educates an abandoned person). -- Pesik. R. s. 21 זוללה העולם נעשה the world became an object reduced in value. -- 2) spendthrift, glutton. Sifre Deut. 219 בבשר ז׳ עolel (Deut. XXI, 20) refers to excesses in eating meat (v. Snh. VIII, 2).
