זריע, v. זרע I.
זריעה f. (זרע) sowing, seed. Ber. 35b ז׳ בשעת at seed- time. Sabb. 91a לז׳ o use it for seed; a. fr.
זריקה f. (זרק) 1) sprinkling the blood on the altar. Zeb. 25b. Y. Pes. VII, 34b bot.; a. v. fr. -- 2) thrusting. Sabb. 96b וכ׳ תולדה ז׳ thrusting (on the Sabbalh from one area, רשות, to anolher) is forbidden as a subspecies of carrying (v. הוצאה). Y. Erub. IV, beg. 21d ז׳ ע״י by means of thrusting from place to place; a. fr.
זריקתא, זירקתא f. (זרק) that which is thrown of, pickings in the woods, used as fuel. Targ. Is. XXXIII, 4 זריק׳ ed. Lag. (oth. ed. זירק׳, זרק׳; h. text גבים, cmp. גבבה); v. אזי.
זרירא m., m. זרירין (זרר; cmp. זרי; cmp. Lat. sternuo) sputtering, sneezing. Targ. Job XLI, 10 זרירוי (זרירוהי) (Var. מקקא).

זרכל, Ithpa. אזדרכל (orig. Ithpa. of דרכל, fr. דרך, cmp. אתדרכל P. Sm. 95 2; v. ib. 1157 s. v. זרכל a. sq.) to walk proudly. Targ. Prov. XXX, 31 מידרכיל ed. Lag. (ed. wwil. מזדר, v. זר), v. אבכא.
זרמית, זרמית f. ch. (= b. h. זרם; cmp. זרב, זרי) shower, storm. Targ. Is. IV, 6 Ib. XXVIII, 2; a. e.
זרנא m. (זרר, cmp. זרירא) vomting, nausea. Lev. R. s. 18, end (expl. זרא, Num. XI, 20); (Num. R. s. 7 לזרא; Ar. s. v. בוטנא; זירנא).
זרנוקא m. (Parel of זנק, cmp. זיקא II) leather bag, hose. Targ. Ps. CXIX, 83 (h. text נאד). -- B. Mets. 103b וז׳ דוולא buckets and hose (for irrigation). B. Bath. 58a לכו אמרה ז׳ (comment. זרונקא, Ms. O. זרקונא, corr. acc.) she means a hose (which had been made of the hide of the animal stolen from her). Ib. 167a אז׳ קם (some ed. אזרונקא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) he wrote standing on a hose (to imitate a trembling hand-writing). -- Pl. זרנוקין. Targ. Job XXXII, 19 Ar. (ed. לגינין, insert היך).
זרניך m. (v. P. Sm. 1158) arsenic, orpiment (v. Sm. Ant. s. v. Arsenicon). Hull. 88b bot.
זרע (b. h.; cmp. זרי) to strew, sow. Kil. I, 9. Ib. II, 3 אזרע, v. אפך;a. fr. - Part. pass. זרוע, f. זרועה; pl. זרועים &c. Ib. חטים ז׳ sown with wheat; a. fr. -- Y. Sot. I, 17b top וכ׳ זרועות בנותיהן . . . . כשם as well as their vineyards are sown with mixed seeds, so are their daughters &c. (faithless wives). Nif. נזרע to be sown, to be stocked with seed. Gen. R. s. 8c, end, a. e. וכ׳ נזדעה בשבילי the field has been sown for my sake. Shebi. IV, 2 תזרע may be sown; a. fr. Hif. הזריע to emit semen (also used of women emit- ting a secretion at coition). Ber. 60a, a. e. תחלה מזריע איש when the male is the first to emit semen; מזרעת אשה וכ׳ when the female is the first &c.; a. fr.

זדע m. (b. h.; preced.) sced; animalic semen (mostly ז׳ שכבת). Gen. R. s. 73 וכ׳ ז׳ המים נעשו the water in their bellies turned into semen. Y. Kil. I, 27a bot. ז׳ הימנו נוטל he may take seed thereof. Shebi. II, 8 לז׳ שזרעו which he planted for the sake of obtaining seed, opp. לירק for using it as vegetable; a. fr. -- Trnsf. issue, descent. Gen. R. s. 23; s. 51 וכ׳ שהוא ז׳ אותו that issue which was to come from a foreign place (Moab). Ber. 31b וכ׳ שמושח ז׳ a descendant who will anoint two men; a. fr. -- Pl. זרעים. Peah II, 3 לז׳ מפסיק הכל all of them form a partition with regard to seeds (making each field separately sub- ject to Peah), opp. to trees. Kil. זרעוי, m. זרעונין, זרעונים m. (b. h); preced. wds.) rows ofplants in one bed, also (=זרעיס) seeds. Kil. II, 2 וכ׳ גנה זרעוני garden seeds which are not used for food, i e. seeds of vegetables; Tosef. Maasr. III, 14; Sabb. IX, 7. Tosef. l. c. שדה ז׳ field seeds (e. g. vetch &c.). Kil. III, 1 ז׳ חמשה five rows of different seeds; a. fr.

זרעית f. (preced. wds.) descendants, family. - Pl. זרעיות. Snh. IV, 5 (7a) זרעיותיו ודם דמו Mish. a. Y. ed. (Bab. ed. זדעותיו, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 10) his own (the murdered man's) blood and that of his eventual de- scendants; Gen. R. s. 22; Yalk. Gen. 38.
