חיתוכא ch. same, 1) cut. Hull. 47b דאוני ח׳ the incisions marking the lobes of the lung. -- Pl. חיתוכי.. Ib. 48a דאוני ח׳ ed. (Rashi; דאוני חיתוכה מקום) the place in, the neck where the lungs begin to separate. --2) a portion. cut of, segment (חתיכה). Ib. 48b דריאה בח׳ . . מחטא (Rashi בחיתוכה) a needle was found in a segment of the lungs.
חיתום, חת׳ m. (חתם) 1) signature. B. Bath. X, 8 שטרות ח׳ לאחר after the deeds were signed. Ib. 176a; a. fr. -- 2) (ברכות) ח׳ the formula with which a prayer closes, concluding benediction (Blessed be thou, O Lord, who &c.'). Ber. 12a ב׳ ח׳ אחר הולך הכל Ms. M. (ed. only הח׳) the concluding formula decides the appropriateness of a prayer. Ib. אזלינן ב׳ ח׳ אחר או Ms. M. (ed. חתימה) or do we go by the concluding phrase -- Pl. חיתומין. Y. Ber. חיתון m. (חתן) marriage; wedding ceremony, only in pl. חיתונים, חיתונין. Num. R. s. 12 (ref. to Cant. III, 1I) וכ׳ היו ח׳ the law-giving on Sinai was a wedding (between God and Israel), as we read (Ex. XIX, 10) &c., v. קידושין; Pesik. Vayhi, p. 5a; Cant. R. to l. c. כחתנים (corr. acc.).

חיתית, חת׳ f. (b. h. =חתתית; חתת) being broken, subdued; esp. dread inspired by superiors, fear. Gen. R. s. 34 (ref. to Gen. IX, 2, compared with I, 28) וח׳ מורא חזרו (notוחתות) the fear and dread (of man) were restored (after the deluge), but subjection was not. R. Hash. 17a (applying Ez. XXXII, 24 sq.) וכ׳ חיתיתם שנתנו those (leaders) who tyrannize the land of the living. --Lev. R. s. 18; Koh. R. to XII, 5 (ref. to חתחתים, ib.) [read] וכ׳ דרך של חיתיתה the dread of travelling befalls him.

חכה f. (b. h.; חכך I; cmp. חה) hook, fish-hook. Y. Pes. IV, 30d top. M. Kat. 25b וכ׳ ח׳ נפלה . . בנחל if the fish- hook is thrown into the rapid river (to catch the fish), what can the waters in the pond do (if the great die, what can common humanity expect)---Erub. 196 מטילין וכ׳ ח׳ לו they put a hook into the convict's mouth &c.; a. e. - Pl. חכין. חכי, חכה (b. h.), Pi. תכה 1) (denom. of חכה) to insert a hook, to fish with the angle, to fasten. Y. Sabb. IV, end, 7c בו לחכות אם if it is a sigar (v. סוגר) with which to fasten a dog (by inserting the hook of a chain), opp. לאכול שלא בשביל one intended to prevent from eating (a muzzle); Y. Bets. II, end, 61d (not להכות). B. Kam. 81a וכ׳ בימה ומחכין and that people be free to fish with the angle in the lake of Tiberias. -- 2) (b. h.) to lie in wait (v. Hos.
