ירך, constr. ירך f. (b. h.; cmp. ארך) [length-side,] 1)haunch, thigh, i. e. "the thick and feshy member which commences at the bottom of the spine and extends to the lower leg (שוק)b (Ges. H. Dict. s. v.). Hull. VII, 1 ימין של בי׳ נוהג applies to the right leg. Ib. 2 אדם נשולח וכ׳ י׳ one may send to a gentile a haunch with the nervus ischiadicus (v. גיד) in it. Sot. 11b; Ex. ירק II (b. h.) to be light-colored, pale, green, yellow. Iiff. הוריק 1) to become green, pallid, pale. Sot. III, 4 מוריקות פניה her face grew pale (sickly); Sifre Num. 8; Tosef. Sot. III, 3; a. fr. -- 2) to make pale, cause to fade. Ber. 444b מוריק חי ירק כל vegetable eaten raw makes pale.. Gen. R. s. 13 (ref. to ארקא, Jer. X, 11) מורקת שהיא. . . כנגד וכ׳ the earth is called arka, corresponding to the season of Tebeth which causes her fruits to fade. -- 3) to matke shine (ike gold, bronze &c.; cmp. ירקרק Pg.
