כונתא, v. כונותא.
כונתא(כונתא) m. (כתת, with insertedנ, cmp. כונשרא) [that which is pounded.] spelt. M. Kat. 13b כ׳ אמר . . כי when Rab Dimi came (to Babylonia) he defined helka (v. חילקא II) as kunta. -- Pl. כונתיא, כונתין (כונתיא). Targ. Ex. IX, 32 כו׳ ed. Berl. (ed. Amst. כו׳; Y. כונת׳, Var. כנת, כנת׳). Targ. Is. XXVIII, 25; Targ. Ez. IV, 9 (ed. wil.. כונתין, oth. ed. כונת׳).
כוס I c. (b. h.; כוס or כנס, v. Ges. Thes., a. Hebr. Dict.dba s. v.) 1) cup, also a drink. Tam. III, 4. Erub. 65b בכעסו בכוסו בכיסו . . . בג׳ man's character is found out in three things, in his money bag, in his cup (when drink- ing) and in his anger; Der. Er. Zutta ch. V. -- Keth. 75b, sq., v. בדק. Pes. 105a הכ׳ על קדושה sanctification (of the Sabbath or Holy Day) over a cup of wine. Ib. לו אין אם אחד כ׳ אלא iff he has only enough wine for one cup. Sabb. כוסבר m. כוסברה, כוסברת f (v. Loe Pd. p. 209) coriander (v. Sm. Ant. s. v. Coriandrum). Kil. כוסבר, כוסברה m.. כוסברתא f. ch. same.Targ. Y. Ex. XVI, 31; Targ. Y. Num. XI, 7 (h. text גד). - Y. Dem. I, 21d top כוסברתא (כוסבר(ה kusbar (of the Mish.) is kus- barta. Ib. (derisive play on the word) [read:] ברה כוס וכ׳ ברתה כוס 'chew the son, chew the daughter, who classed thee among the spices?-- Ab. Zar. I0b (expressing an advice symbolically = ברתא כוס put the daughter to death, v. נכס; v. גרגילא).

כוסילתא f. (כסל, v. כסל; cmp. P. Sm. s. v. 1786, sq.) 1)tthe spacebetween tthe houlders (interscapilium)נshoulder- blade. Taan. 21b [read] בזיעא והוה קרנא ביה דיתיב לבושא כ׳ בי (v. Var. in Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) a garment in which there was placed (fastened) a cup (for receiving the blood) which (garment) was cut in at the shoulder (so that the operator could let blood standing behind the female patient);[Ar. כ׳ באפי ביזעי ביזעי ליה דאית לבושא a garment in which there were several incisions to correspond to the shoulder-blade. ]-- 2) the lancet for blood letting. ריבדא דכ׳ the puncture made by the lancet. Sabb. 129a דנפיק עד דכ׳ מר׳ until the puncture was healed up. Snh. 93b. Macc. 21a. Keth. 39b דכ׳ ר׳ כי as much pain as is caused by the puncture of the lancet. כוסמים, כוסמין m. pl. (b. h. כסמים, כסמת; לסם, cmp. כסס; v. כונתא) spelt. Hall. I, 1. Pes. II, 5. Ib. 35a חטים מין כ׳ הוא Kuss'min is a species of wheat. Y. Hall. I, 57b top (ref. to Is. XXVIII, 25) הכ׳ זה כוסמת kussemeth is spet; a. fr.
כוסמת f., v. preced.
כוספא m. (כסף) paring, husk; דתמרי כ׳ substance of ground dates after the juice is pressed out. Taan. 24b אאכ׳ מזדבן דקא קיימי דת׳ they stand around a mass of ground dates which is to be sold (there being a famine). Sabb. 50b דיסמין כ׳ puppy pomace flavored with jasmin (used for a lotion).
כוספן m. h. same (collect. noun). Ab. Zar. 38b הכ׳ וכ׳ נכרים של (Rashi; הכוספין) pomace of dates belonging to gentiles which was boiled (brewed a second time) in a large caldron.
*כוסתא m. (an adapt. of ~~~~~, by confusion with כוס, כסא) kusta, a liquid measure. Sabb. 109b דשיכרא כ׳ חד (Ms. O. כיסתא) one k. of beer. -- Pl. כוסיתא (fem.). Ib. חמש כ׳ עשר Ms. M. (ed. כוסתאא חמשא,Ms. O. כסתתא;Rashiכוסאתא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note). [Oth. opin. כוסתא fem. form of כוסא, v. בסא]
