כורסיא, כורסיה, כורסיא m.pl. (used as sing.). constr. כורסי, כרסא (כרס; cmp. כר) divan, upholstered chair, throne. Dan. V, 20; VII, 9. -- Targ. I Kings X, 19. Targ. Ex. XVII, 16; a. fr. -- Hull. 59b [read:] מכורסייה נפל וכ׳ he fell from his throne to the ground. Yeb. 118b; Keth. 75a לה רמי . . כורסיה גברא דשומשנא if her husband be (as small as) an ant, put up her seat among the women of nobility, i. e. a woman feels elevated by marriage. Yeb. 8gb כורסי׳ אבי אותבוה they put him on an operator's chair. Ib. 110a ואהדרוה כ׳ אבי אותבוה Ar. (ed. omit ואהדרוה) they put her on a bridal chair (v. אפריון) and carried her around in procession. כוש I m. (cmp. כוס, כיס) [something hollow,] reed, esp. reed used as spindle (v. Ar. s. v.); also as fork. Yoma. e82a ברוטב כ׳ לה תוחבין we put for her a reed into the juice (and let her suck it); Tosef. ib. V (IV), 4 (corr. acc.). Sabb. 123a; Y. ib. XVII, 16b top, v. כרכר. Y. Erub. III, 20d bot. ובקיסם בכ׳ לתחוב to stick it on a reed or a chip. Kel. IX, 8 כ׳ מלא the size of a reed. Tosef. ib. B. Mets. VI, 12 הביגוני בכ׳ בכ׳ wherever the size of a reed (or spindle) is mentioned, a middle-sized reed is meant. Kel. IX, 7 הצנורא את שבלע כ׳ a reed in which the iron hook has disappeared. Par. כושר m. (כשר) fitness, legitimacy, being כשר. Pes. 83a הכ׳ שעת לו היתה was at one time fit for use. Y. Yeb.
